Overview

Emily Silverstein is an experienced attorney, representing clients in a broad range of matters. Her practice includes the defense of medical professionals and healthcare providers against medical and professional negligence claims. She also represents local governments in a variety of matters. Emily has successfully defended clients against Section 1983 (42 U.S.C. § 1983) claims and mirroring state law claims in these practice areas. 

Emily has extensive experience with the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, obtaining affirmation of the United States District Court rulings in employment, municipality, land-use and professional liability. She also has appellate experience in the Delaware Supreme Court, successfully defending against appeals in toxic tort and land-use claims. 

Emily has previous experience working as a civil litigator for a regional insurance defense firm representing clients in a multitude of areas, including, but not limited to, municipality, employment, directors and officers, coverage, professional liability and healthcare and appellate practice. Emily represented corporations, individuals, local governments and insurers. She represented mental health facilities in a variety of claims, including professional, employment and premises liability. 

Emily was the judicial extern of Vice Chancellor Joseph R. Slights, III during her third year of law school while the Vice Chancellor was on the Superior Court bench. She also interned with Judge Calvin S. Scott, Jr. of the Superior Court.

Recognition and Involvement

Emily was awarded the Merit Scholarship in law school for 2009 - 2010 and 2010 - 2011. She also received the Certificate of Achievement, representing the highest score, in Legal Methods III, European Union Law, and Advanced Corporations. Emily graded onto the Delaware Journal of Corporate Law, the law school’s flagship law review. She served as Articles Editor on the board during her final year.
